There is no shortage of products that slap a Texas label on generic snacks and call it done. We do not carry those. Every item in our store goes through a straightforward evaluation before it makes it to the site, and most products we look at do not make the cut.

What We Look For

Authentic Texas Connection

The product needs a real tie to Texas. That means it is made in Texas, founded in Texas, or has a genuine history with the state. We are not interested in products that are manufactured elsewhere and just marketed with a Texas theme.

Taste and Quality

We try everything before we carry it. If it does not taste good enough to recommend to a friend, it does not go on the site. This sounds obvious but it eliminates a surprising number of products.

Shipping Durability

A snack can taste amazing in a store but arrive crushed or stale after shipping. We test how products hold up in transit, including in summer heat. If it does not ship well, we do not carry it regardless of how good it tastes in person.

Shelf Stability

Our customers order snacks to enjoy over time, to gift later, or to stock up for trips. Products need a reasonable shelf life without refrigeration. Items that go stale in a few days or need cold storage are not practical for an online snack store.

What We Avoid

Repackaged national brands: if you can buy it at any grocery store in any state, we do not carry it
Products with no real Texas connection: a Texas sticker on a generic product does not count
Items that do not ship well: fresh baked goods, items that need refrigeration, or anything fragile that arrives broken
Products with inconsistent quality: if the product quality changes batch to batch, we move on
